What I Wore Wednesday

Alternative title: "Jodi only seems to own one pair of jeans".

Listen. I have plenty of pairs of jeans. Cute jeans. Designer jeans even. Can I fit them right now? No I can not. Do I tell myself that I'll fit back into them more quickly if I have the motivating factor of no pants to wear until I lose weight going for me? Constantly.

Until I actually have no pants to wear. Then I run toot sweet over to the Goodwill because if I'm going to cave, at least I'm not going to waste money on expensive denim when I'm just going to lose weight and not be able to wear them for very long, right?

Or so I keep telling myself, even though the weight loss isn't currently happening. (Touchy subject... let's not discuss it any further than that because I'm in a firm place of denial at the moment.)

All this to say that yes, I've been wearing the same pair of jeans an awful lot, and God bless my friend Jana who asked me last night at our sons' baseball game if I was wearing a new pair, when she'd probably seen me at least 5 times in the past week and a half in the exact same ones. It made me feel slightly better.

So. The denim of the week is Mossimo by Target, via the Goodwill, thank you very much.

Last Wednesday
(nursery duty at church. Also, a very cold day.)
Forever 21 scarf, Aeropostale sweater, Target hat, ebay Uggs

( date night)
Ross vest, Target shirt, Famous Brand Shoes wedges, Fred Meyer's necklace

thrifted jacket, Diviine Modestee cami, thrifted Ann Taylor skirt, Famous Brand Shoes wedges, SarieJune flower necklace

(nephew's birthday party)
Old Navy long sleeve tee, Target sweater, ebay Uggs, Fred Meyer's necklace

And yesterday's picture didn't seem to happen for some reason or another, but yes, I was wearing my thrifted jeans again.

So what do you think, should I give in and buy some more pants in my current "larger state", or will that just keep me from kicking myself into gear to fit into my old ones?
I'd love your advice. (Or your jeans, that would be cool too ;)

In the meantime, have a lovely Wednesday!

  1. Wow, those are great outfits! So creative, too. I especially like the ones with a shirt over a shirt or a cardigan added to the mix. Great ideas! And hey, don't get me started on weight loss. :)

  2. Every WIWW I check your blog, because I really like your casual yet cute pulled together outfits. I have even bought some pieces you wore, because I liked how you put it in a look. I would have never noticed you were wearing the same jeans, and I think you look great! SO there!!! Don't be so hard on yourself, you look adorable. :)

  3. You are so cute! I just found you on Pleated Poppy, nice to meet you! Love the casual and easy feeling of your style. :-)

  4. I love coming to see what you wore every Wednesday. Your style is something that is totally doable for me or anyone! Aren't we as women always struggling with our weight or self image? I think you are beautiful!

  5. This made me laugh because I am in the same situation! I happen to have 2 pair of jeans that fit (only because they are both new!) and many cute pairs that don't!! I have finally decided to join Weight Watchers.
Hang in there girl! You look fabulous! Sunday skirt is super cute!!

  6. You ARE beautiful!!! I also would never have noticed (even thought I guess it must say so, but again, never noticed) that you wear the same jeans because you style everything so well with them that you're actually wearing different outfits.

Looove your Ann Taylor skirt. I've seen so many Pinspired looks with similar skirts. I know you're going to style that baby well!

  7. Jodi Halverson, I love you! And i know you. Once you set your mind to something you stick to it a giter done! I know you will fit into your jeans again... That's how you roll!!

  8. my fav is Friday..very flattering,Love the striped top and vest combo, of course Sunday and Monday ..all cute.

  9. I think you look fabulous! Love the Ann Taylor skirt;o)

  10. I've been in that situation. I did get a couple pair from Goodwill, and then just donated them back later. Looks like you are doing a great job at switching up the tops... I wouldn't even notice. Your skirt outfit is darling. ;)

  11. I love your church outfit! That skirt is adorable. I say buy some jeans that fit, because you need to feel good about yourself now to be motivated to improve your fitness too. Yeah, you're not at your ideal weight, but you're still cute and you should still feel good in what you are wearing.

  12. Ditto to what Kathleen put together such cute outfits and accessories that I would have never noticed you wear the same jeans a lot. I have one pair of skinny jeans that I wear A LOT. I only have two pair that fit me and that I feel good in so I completely understand. I love your Sunday outfit this week - adorable!

  13. I had that problem for the longest time but now I have the opposite problem where my cloths are finally a size too big and yet I still wear them even though they are falling off because I can't afford to replace my wardrobe and hubby's (but his is a priority since he's almost lost 200 lbs). I'm not doing it yet though because other then the money the fact I can't be as active as I have been because of my knee I think I'll be fitting right back into them. You look good and you shouldn't put your comfort and style on the sidelines for someday. If right now it's not a reality for you (for whatever reason) to lose that weight then get a couple of feel good pieces. And I love your church outfit that yellow flowered skirt is adorable.

  14. Hi Jodi!

I just popped on over here from The Pleated Poppy and I think your outfits are adorable, same jeans and all. I always have trouble finding jeans and pants that fit well, so when I do I always buy multiples. A few years ago I found perfect fitting jeans at Target....and bought 5 pairs! So even though I'm constantly rotating and wearing a different pair, it still looks like I'm wearing the same you are not alone ;) I just read that you were born & raised in NZ! I'm a born & raised Aussie living in California, and my mum is a Kiwi :)

    Have a great day!

  15. love your style and your blog! new follower over from the pleated poppy!

  16. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! It is all fabulous!!

I would absolutely LOVE to have you link this up on my Casual Friday link up party starting tomorrow, it would be perfect!!

  17. Jodi,
I started to creep your blog like no ones business just to see your outfits (now you're just so cute that I like reading about your lifes antics AND the outfits). Your outfits inspire me and I never noticed you only wore one pair of jeans.

We all fluctuate on weight. You'll lose it again if that's what you want and if not you're beautiful anyway! I am more fixated on how you manage to get the best dern clothes thifted! My stomping ground has ratty tshirts and clothes that must have fallen out of the time machine from the 80s....

    Love from bloggyland,

  18. Thank you Crystal! Your words, and every one else's are so encouraging! Plus you made me laugh and I had to read your comment out loud to my mother who was with me :) All I can say about the thrifting is that it's tricky business and takes stamina and strength of spirit! Haha ;)

  19. Love the yellow skirt! I am visiting from the Pleated Poppy link up and I am a new follower! I hope you will stop by and do the same.
