Monday Confessional

9.12.2011

Russ left yesterday for an 8-day hunting trip, and for the first time in over 12 years of marriage I was not sad and pouty and miserable about the coming week of singleness. It feels weird, but I think I'm actually going to enjoy myself!

I have plans.

FUN plans.

Plans that do not include cooking anything besides frozen pizza, taquitos, and the likes for my kids.

And I have girly shows to catch up on.

And some really good books to read.

And a puppy!

(The puppy really helps - this would have been helpful information to know 12 years ago, as I spent the first 5 or 6 years of my married life crashing my parents house anytime Russ went away.)

I'm not saying I didn't take a Tylanol PM to go to sleep last night. Baby steps here, people...

I'm just saying I'm feeling pretty good about this week, and it makes me feel proud of myself.

That or it makes me feel middle-aged. Hmmmm... I'll go with proud.

  1. You should be proud! I'm 32 & still get pouty & sad when my hubby leaves. I try not too, I really do! Just seems I can't figure out how to be all happy about it.

  3. Sorry to ruin your plans, but Russ just called me and said he got his elk and will be home tonight... So kick the dog off the bed, eat the pizza for lunch, and rent a couple action movies:-)

  4. Haha, Tim :)
Mum and Dad, I shall of course crash a meal or two ;) And who knows how I'll be feeling by the end of the week... remember this post was written the day Russ left!!!
@Mommyblogger: I know exactly what you mean... crazy busyness (that is fun) seems to be the only thing that helps!

  5. Just don't make the mistake of picking up the novel 'The Cabin' while your husband is gone hunting. Did that when the kids were little and it still gives me the heebee-jeebies. Library book I thought was about a hunting trip that would make me not miss him so much. What I was thinking?...and P.S. Friday I am open to visits 24/7...uh,2nd thought, make that 10am-10pm
